Welcome to English 8, British Literature II. This is a senior level elective offered each spring that will cover British literature from 1790 into the Twentieth Century. This website is for students currently enrolled in English 8, and it includes supplemental material to build on what we read and discuss in the classroom as well as assignments and information necessary to succeed in the class.
Students will need to check the Weekly Announcements page frequently. I will not give out written schedules or reading assignments in class, so you will need to check there to know your daily reading and other assignments for the week. I will give you more notice for an essay or longer reading assignment. There will also be a brief description of what we will cover in class each day in case you are absent. Also under the Weekly Announcements tab, there is a Discussion Board. The Discussion Board is for students to ask other students or myself questions and share ideas that we did not get to discuss in class. All students are required to post at least twice on the Discussion Board each unit. One of those posts must be a response to a previous post.
At the top there is a page for each unit we will cover: Romanticism, Victorian Era, and Twentieth Century. Each of these pages will contain necessary and supplemental multimedia information and links about these eras. There will be one larger project or essay due for each unit, and the information about those assignments are found in their respective pages. These pages will also work well as a study guide for the exams.
